Full House Resorts Announces New Site For Proposed Casino And Resort In New Haven

In a notable announcement from Full House Resorts on Wednesday, the proposed New Haven Casino and Resort in Indiana is set to occupy a new site, reflecting the company’s adaptive strategy in response to community input. Initially slated for construction at the intersection of Doyle and Harper Roads, the project has been redirected to a site next to the I-469 and U.S. 30 interchange west of Doyle Road. This shift is a testament to Full House Resorts’ commitment to fostering positive community relations and ensuring their developments align with local interests.

Community Engagement Drives Strategic Relocation

The relocation decision came after Full House Resorts carefully considered feedback from New Haven city officials and nearby homeowners, demonstrating the company’s dedication to community partnership. “Full House Resorts is dedicated to being a good neighbor in the communities we operate in,” stated Zack Sand, spokesperson for Full House Resorts, as reported by WANE 15.“We listened carefully to the concerns of residents near our initial site and have secured a more suitable location that meets the community’s comprehensive development plan.” The new site, which offers 90 acres of land, allows for substantial buffering from any other properties, promising a well-integrated and less intrusive presence.

The strategic location near the upcoming Fields of Grace complex—a 140,000-square-foot sports facility next to Grace Gathering East, a church in southeast New Haven—positions the casino to benefit from and contribute to the area’s burgeoning development. This area is set to host new restaurants, entertainment venues, and residential spaces, which Mayor Steve McMichael believes will significantly enhance the city’s economic landscape. In May, he remarked on the economic impact, projected at $50 million, highlighting the importance of these developments in maximizing New Haven’s economic potential.

Responding To Community Concerns And Promoting Responsible Development

While the project has been met with enthusiasm for its potential economic benefits, it has not been without its detractors. Some residents of Allen County have expressed concerns about possible increases in crime and other social issues that could accompany the casino. At a New Haven City Council meeting in late September, objections were raised about potential increases in gambling-related issues, including drinking and driving and other undesirable activities. Full House Resorts has acknowledged these concerns and is committed to incorporating robust safety and regulatory measures in its development plans.

Full House Resorts has outlined a two-phase development plan for the New Haven Casino and Resort. The first phase will focus оn constructing the casino itself, while the second phase will expand the complex tо include a hotel and a live event center. This phased approach allows for gradual integration into the community and a paced expansion оf services and facilities.

These plans are anticipated to reflect both the architectural vision and the operational strategies that will define the new resort as a premier destination for entertainment and hospitality in New Haven.
